Lyrics – Things Changed
By Daniel Joseph Duey
Things Changed
Intro
Martin Luther King, Jr. born January 15th, 1929 and had his life
cut short April 4th, 1968 is when he died. He was one of the most
well-known leaders in the American Civil Rights Movement. He
tried to bring about peace and equality, in non-violent means.
Verse 1
Things have changed just a little bit. Everyday were getting a little
closer to no more ignorance. And I’m feeling it. Hip-hop
enlightens the world like the words of Dr. King’s vision. This must
have been how Dr. King was feeling. So I’ll take his dream and
change the way we think for our children. Because the messed
up situation with these kids at home illin’ because mom and dad is
not listening, so they’re listening to rap. I’’d figure I’d respond to
that, with a message of peace unity let’s take it back to a time
when our mind was set on a dream and with these lines I hope to
make the blind see the world as it should be.
Chorus
Things have changed since the days of Martin Luther King
But I can’t wait for the day when we fulfill his dream.
Verse 2
I have a dream, is what he was talking about, Million Man March
went and walked it out. Equality, hey, that’s just what it was all
about. Now all stand proud. Blacks, Whites, Asians, Puerto
Ricans, Haitians, Native Americans let’s make it, no more falling
out. I’m calling out, anybody want to think this is a game I’m
going all out of my way to break the stereotypical chains and let
the rain wash away the pain but leave the words of Dr. King
ingrained in your brain and what he’s saying… Dr. King had a
dream of peace and equality, peace and equality, peace and
equality. We need to come together right now, it can’t wait so let’s
not wait for the day when it might be too late.
Chorus
Things have changed since the days of Martin Luther King
But I can’t wait for the day when we fulfill his dream.
Soak it up and let it ride
