Lyrics – Cells

By Daniel Joseph Duey
Cells

Verse 1
Cell theory, sounds swell. Living things made up of a whole
bunch of cells. But what’s in a cell? I’m about name off the parts,
the functions as well. First up is the nucleus, it’s the brains of this
cell, controls everything in the cell. Mitochondria, endoplasmic
reticulum, ribosomes, cytoplasm, cell membrane and vacuoles. I
mean vacuoles, storing substance to keep it full. Got the
ribosomes working in the factory. What they whipping up?
Whipping up protein. Endoplasmic reticulum moves the
substances through. What? A small network of tubes.
Mitochondria releases the energy. Like an energy drink for you or
me. Cytoplasm, a jelly-like substance. Cell membrane is the
bouncer that runs things. Things of a cell inside and out. Can
you tell me how many cells are in your body right now?

Chorus
You have a million and one. No, trillion and one cell units. So get
them all movin’. You have a million and one. No, trillion and one
cell units. So get them all movin’.

Verse 2
Cells do you care about it? I can talk about prokaryotic and
eukaryotic. Prokaryotic is missing a nucleus. Eukaryotic is
multicellular organisms and do you know this? That when cells
are working together they become tissues. A complex system of
tissues gets you organs, they make systems. So I’m going to go
ahead and just list them. Respiratory system, digestive, immune,
skeletal, circulatory system. You have a nervous system, a
muscular system, integumentary and endocrine system
and all these systems create your existence. My son, mine, even
my Mrs. Everyone that gets this, everyone that don’t, every one
that will, and everyone that miss this.

Chorus
You have a million and one. No, trillion and one cell units. So get
them all movin’. You have a million and one. No, trillion and one
cell units. So get them all movin’.
