History 2 – Lyrics

Lyrics – History 2

By: Daniel Joseph Duey

Verse 1
Mr. Duey Exclusive, American History part 2. How I do it. Check it.
1904 hop out the vocal booth and into a Model T. Bought it
from Henry Ford, my new time machine. First place I’m flying to
is 1917, World War 1 battling it out overseas. In no man’s land the
U.S. fought Germany, Russia, U.K. France against Austria, Hungry.
In the trenches with gas masks, bullets pass, pause and miss me.
Ottoman Empire lost in history. Hop into the Model T, travel to
1929 Great Depression, worst of hard times. The stock market crashed,
economy dropping down, people losing their jobs saving all their nickles
and dimes. I’m heading out at warp speed. Not seeing money is depressing
to me. Counting paper (money) is therapy for me. I appear to be traveling
in a tank at full steam, created in America, boosting up our economy.
Stop and hear Roosevelt talk about the day that will live in infamy,
when most ships were hit up in our Pacific Fleet. December 7th 1941
really gets to me, Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese.
Not only that but at the same time trying to push Germany back,
breaking up the labor camps like a heavyweight champ. Bombs taking
off put an end to that. In 47′ Jackie Robinson was bombing them off
the bat and paved the way for African Americans playing Major League.
Move ahead to 53′ schools were separated. 54′ Brown versus the Board
of Education changing things from segregation to a unified nation.
In 63′ the President J.F.K. was assassinated, one of the greatest who
captivated us with hopes and dreams of having made it. To a state of
mind that we all related in a world where we can really make a difference
and change it. Cruising in my Ford moved to 64′, I’m in the war that’s
going on that’s over in Vietnam. 1973 we pulled the infantry, moving forward closing
the door to Saigon. Sugar Hill Gang with “Rappers Delight” in 1979, about
time I install a tape deck in the ride. 84′ Run DMC I pop the tape inside,
rewind to track one, bumpin’ some “Hard Times”. Now I’m blasting
Michael Jackson’s thriller of 85′, taking a trip to visit myself in 90 when
I was nine. I told myself you don’t know me you’ll figure it when you’re
twenty five, but hear me out you’ll be the greatest rapper alive.
I figure I give Lil Duey a little drive. I remember when I arrived
since that time been writing lines and strive to get my rhymes
tight. In 91′ writing songs about what’s going on in the news at night.
With the Persian Gulf War, Desert Storm live as the scud missiles lit
up in the sky. A decade later in 2001 the towers came down. Went
back to Iraq, a vicious cycle going around. In 06′, graduated and
made music about education. In 08′ Mr. Duey came out with “Class
Dis-Missed Vol 1.” “Vol 2.” right now. August 6th, 09 wrote it
down and put it out. All about the U.S. History. 1700 through the
21st Century. You feeling me? If not, just let it be. The rest can
follow me. Hop into the Model T and press repeat.
